A Romanian judge has placed controversial internet influencer Andrew Tate under house arrest as prosecutors look into fresh, serious claims against him, including having sex with a juvenile and trafficking in minors.

Thursday afternoon, he and his brother Tristan showed up in court. A special judge was appointed to oversee Tristan Tate.
In order to launch a fresh investigation into 35 suspected victims—among them a 15-year-old girl—prosecutors had requested that the judge detain the brothers in custody for 30 days.
Six individuals, including foreign nationals, have been detained overall, according to a statement released by DIICOT, Romania's agency against organized crime.
Andrew Tate angrily addressed the media outside, calling the evidence against him a "stitch-up" and full of lies.
"This is a pretext. It's downright repulsive. Of those thirty girls, thirty say we haven't done anything wrong. He stated, "Two of them are the mothers of our children, and two of them have never even visited Romania."
He declined to respond when the BBC continually questioned him about the claims that he had intercourse with a 15-year-old girl and was involved in the trafficking of minors.
The Tate brothers are awaiting trial on allegations of human trafficking and rape, respectively, for which they were previously charged. A year ago, they were taken off house arrest and instructed not to leave Romania.
They have consistently vehemently denied any misconduct and the formal accusations brought against them.
These are fresh and distinct accusations.
According to the anti-organized crime agency, the defendants were forcing "vulnerable" individuals to create pornographic content for online distribution by grooming them and housing them in various places.
A 17-year-old foreign national is alleged to have been coerced by one of the foreign men into "performing sexual acts" in order to create internet video content. He allegedly kept the entire $1.5 million (£1.1 million) profit. He is not identified in the statement.
The same man is charged with having multiple sexual encounters with a girl who was fifteen years old at the time of their first meeting.
Andrew Tate told the BBC on Wednesday night that the most recent claims were "pathetic" and that the prosecution was "desperate" following several hours of interrogation at the DIICOT offices. They had, he added, "made up a lot".
He added that he had been accused of "lover-boying" his children's mother, a tactic employed by criminals to take advantage of their victims' weaknesses.
Andrew Tate, a well-known misogynist with a sizable online fan base, has described the case against him on Twitter/X as part of a mainstream "conspiracy" to suppress him.
Prosecutors charge the brothers in the updated statement with purchasing four expensive vehicles and registering them under false identities in order to conceal the money they claim they made from their illegal activities.
It is claimed that the accused made almost $2.8 million in total via sexual exploitation. It is also alleged that those in custody tried to scare the witnesses and victims.
Investigators recovered cash and various things, including designer watches, laptops, hard drives, and papers, during a 10-hour investigation of four locations on Wednesday. They also seized sixteen high-end vehicles.
The Tate brothers and four Romanian nationals were questioned before being brought into custody late on Wednesday night.
However, in order to detain them for more than a day, the prosecution was forced to present the brothers to the judge, and they eventually showed up in court.
