Voepass released an official statement saying, "The company regrets to inform that all 61 people on board flight 2283 perished at the scene." "At this moment, Voepass is prioritizing the provision of comprehensive support to the victims' families and is fully cooperating with authorities to determine the cause of the accident." The airline later updated the number of people on board from the initial report of 62.

The town of Valinhos' local authorities verified that there were no survivors. They added that one house was damaged when the plane landed into a residential neighborhood. Thankfully, nobody from the community was hurt.

At a Friday ceremony, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his sympathies to the relatives of the victims. "I have to break the terrible news. "It seems that everyone on board has perished in a plane crash in Vinhedos, São Paulo," he said, asking for a moment of silence in honor of the dead.

Images of the burning wreckage, shared by the news outlet Globo, depicted the grim aftermath. The Associated Press verified a video from a bystander showing at least two bodies amid the charred remains of the aircraft. "It just fell from the sky and landed on a house. Luckily, no one was inside," reported Monica Yanakiew, an Al Jazeera correspondent in Rio de Janeiro. "From the footage we’ve seen, it is likely that everyone on board has died, as the plane was completely destroyed." The crash is being described as one of the worst in modern Brazilian aviation history.

Authorities have sealed off the disaster site and sent emergency responders, including firefighters, military police, and civil defense workers. According to Globo, Andrei Passos, the general director of the Federal Police, has sent a team of forensic specialists and detectives with experience in identifying victims of disasters to the area. Tarcísio de Freitas, the governor of São Paulo, is also on his way to the crash site.

As per Flightradar24, an air traffic tracking service, the aircraft in question was an ATR72-500, manufactured in 2010. The accident happened while the plane was traveling from Cascavel airport in the southern state of Paraná to São Paulo.
